Police are appealing for information following an attempted robbery at a chip shop in Paisley on Friday night.
A man claiming to have a gun, threatened staff at Dominic’s chip shop in County Square and demanded cash from the till.
He made his way behind the counter before feeling after he was fought off by two members of staff.
No money was taken in the incident that happened around 8.55pm on Friday 25th November 2016.
The suspect is described as white, early to mid 20s, of athletic build, wearing tracksuit top and bottoms – both black – and red trainers and was last seen running from the shop towards Smithhill St, Paisley, after the robbery.
Detective Constable Aileen Cunningham, Community Investigation Unit, Paisley, said: “Although the man said he had a firearm, nothing was presented at the staff nor did they see a gun, however, that does not make it any less distressing for either of them.
“The suspect forced his way behind the counter but was fought off by the two staff, a 79 year-old man and a 29 year-old woman.
Thankfully, neither were seriously injured but the elderly man did sustain a cut to his elbow. He did not require to go to hospital.
“Officers are currently checking CCTV from the area. I am pretty sure the suspect would have been hanging about the area prior to the attack, so if you have seen someone matching that description near there, or recognise the description, then please contact police.”
