Voting has begun in Renfrewshire as residents choose a new council with a total of 43 councillors being elected across 12 wards.
In the last election, Renfrewshire had 40 councillors within 11 wards but after a review of local authority wards and councillor numbers by the Local Government Boundary Commission for Scotland, this was increased.
The election uses the single transferable vote system (STV), with voters ranking candidates in order of preference.
People aged 16 or over are eligible to take part in the election, with more than 4.1 million people registered to vote.
Counting will take place tomorrow at 9am with results expected after lunch.
