Police have seized a large quantity of alcohol from teenagers during a weekend operation clamping down on youth drinking and anti-social behaviour.
Officers from Paisley’s Local Community Policing team on Saturday 7th May were assisted by fellow Community Policing officers, Constables Moray Stewart and Bruce Heron to address underage drinking in the Glenburn, Dykebar and Shortroods area of Paisley.
The operation resulted in a large seizure of alcohol from teens ranging in age 14-17 years.
Police said a number of youths were identified, warned and taken home to their parents.
The operation will continue throughout the summer months and will incorporate a number of problematic areas in Paisley.
Local officers will also be carrying out licensing checks on premises to prevent the underage purchase of alcohol.
Inspector Tracy Harkins Said: “I am delighted with the result of the operation and the impact this has on youth crime and anti-social behaviour, officers are working closely with local residents to identify areas where youths are congregating drinking and causing annoyance.
