The Scottish Conservative party have announced their candidates for the UK General Election in June.
David Gardiner will stand in the Paisley and Renfrewshire North constituency, and Amy Thomson will stand in Paisley and Renfrewshire South.
The Conservatives made gains in the Council Election in Renfrewshire and across Scotland.
David, who was brought up in Houston and a former Scotland Office civil servant. He was also the deputy research director for the better together campaign. and hope to beat Gavin Newland who was currently the area’s MP.

David said: ““I am delighted to be selected for my home constituency and pledge to be a strong local voice for Renfrewshire.
“Across Scotland, this election will be a clear fight between the SNP and the Scottish Conservatives. I look forward to campaigning throughout this constituency in the coming weeks and putting forward a clear message opposing another damaging and divisive independence referendum”.
To win, he will need to beat Gavin Newland who was currently the area’s MP. Gavin won his seat with a 9,076 majority over Labour’s Jim Sheridan.
Amy has previously worked for the civil service and Deloitte. She is up against Mhairi Black, who beat Labour’s Douglas Alexander with a majority of 5,684.
She said: “I am very pleased to be selected for Paisley and Renfrewshire South. A vote for the Scottish Conservatives in this constituency is a vote to prioritise our local economy and to reject the SNP’s drive towards another harmful independence referendum”.
The election will be held on Thursday 8th June 2017.
