Police are investigating the suspicious death of a 31-year-old man in the Foxbar area of Paisley.
Officers received a report around 11.20pm that a man had been stabbed during an altercation on Tweed Avenue.
Emergency services attended and the victim was taken to the Royal Alexandra Hospital but died later of his injuries.
A post mortem examination will take place today to establish the exact cause of death but until then the death will be ing as suspicious.
Extensive enquiries are underway, with officers examining CCTV footage as well as conducting door to door enquiries.
Detective Superintendent Allan Burton from Police Scotland’s Major Investigation Teams said: “A man has died following a violent attack which took place in the middle of the street and it is absolutely imperative that we trace the despicable individual responsible.
“I would appeal to anyone who was in Tweed Avenue, or the surrounding area, between 2230 and 0030 hours last night to please come forward. No matter whether you think you have any significant information, let our officers determine that, as you may be able to assist with the investigation.
