Three Senior Five pupils from St Columba’s School in Kilmacolm have won the district finals of the Rotary Youth Speaks competition.
Mark Connolly, Finlay Cooper and Eilidh McCrudden now progress to the area finals in Dundee on Sunday. The district finals were held at Pollokshaws Burgh Hall on Sunday 25th of February.
The pupils’ discussion on the power of music generated much positive feedback with the judges commenting that “they were in a different league.”
Their outstanding performance also prompted an audience member to comment: “I found the team extremely impressive, both in their presentation and in private conversation afterwards. All three are excellent ambassadors for the school.”
Mrs Antonia Berry, Depute Rector at St Columba’s said, “We are extremely proud of the team, they had rehearsed hard and were smart, professional and self-assured.”
We wish the team the best of luck in Dundee at the area finals on the 11th of March and hope to see them at Exmouth for the national finals.
