[6_Anything else you want to tell us?] => “Fire Exit” & “Talk Of The Town” rocked the rails under Gilmour St in C.Cs live venue.
For those of you who made it along to Callum’s Cavern “CCs” in Back Sneddon were The Pretenders by “Talk of the town” took to the stage in support of Fire Exit on Saturday night. It’s pretty much safe to say everyone had a great night out in what is a cracking wee venue with its own back line of amps and PA.
“I just wish they had this place back in the day when I played bass since lugging gear around was never something I fenced.”
Tribute band Talk of the town had a great sound while their performance had many on the dance floor throughout the gig and being a pretenders fan, it was great to hear all those classic tracks being performed live by musicians who clearly love the songs themselves. So if you’re a lover of live music folks and love the pretenders, talk of the town are a live act you wanna see. Were vocalist Sharon Duncan along with Keith Murphy, Jack McDougall, Malcolm Button, Rupert Black and Janice Carruthers will have you singing along throughout the nights.
Well if Talk of the Town wasn’t enough to get you up on your feet, CCs headliner act Fire Exit fronted by Gerry Attrick on vocal along with Charlie Moffat, Lawrie Kennedy, Jess E Ska and Paul Thompson made sure you weren’t sitting around for long.
As always this Punk Band played a blinder throughout and to finish off the night, which saw Talk of the town Bass player Jack McDougall take over from Jess E Ska, who herself started playing a violin which was new to me as Sharon Duncan along with Jerry Attrick took to vocals to end the night’s performance with another old classic, Runaway by Del Shannon, which was earlier suggested by Paul?
Ironically and sadly this was to be guitarist Paul Thomson’s last gig and in his official facebook page he wrote.
“Three years ago, I was asked to join the band and was told by Gerry it was gonna be for six months……
Six months became three years. Not too bad really.
Fire Exit, as a band, has always evolved and grown and changed, and this is the next stage of that.
I’ve had a fkn amazing time. As part of the band, I released an album, an ep, and took part in a retrospective compilation too.
I’ve made so many new friends, I’ve crossed so many paths I never expected to, I’ve seen so many places too….
It’s been an absolute blast.
No regrets. No negativity. No anger. No nonsense. No b####t.”
Saying that Paul and Audrey Costello have happier times ahead as both are set to marry with the reception being held at the Classic Grand Venue in Glasgow.
Where Fire Exit harmonic player Charlie Moffat will take to the stage along with his own band, The Swamp Born Assassins to make this wedding do a happy and memorable event for the bride and groom.
Paul & Audrey, awe the best in all life’s ventures and let there be too many to remember.
