Active Communities is considering taking over a community garden beside Paisley Grammar.
The organisation said the garden could be used for growing food, teaching skills and supporting physical and mental wellbeing.
The proposal was revealed during the Fairer Renfrewshire Sub-committee meeting held online on Wednesday 2nd September 2026.
Sarah Hand, chief executive of Active Communities, said Paisley Grammar had approached the organisation about the space.
She said: “There is a lot that we need to get right about the space to make it work, but we are delighted to have the opportunity for the garden, because it links in with the wider opportunity that we see to develop a more sustained approach in Gallowhill.
“The community garden will definitely give space for food growing and food learning, volunteering, skills, physical and mental wellbeing and intergenerational activity, which is something that we appreciate.”
The proposal forms part of wider community development work taking place in Gallowhill.
This followed a community needs assessment which received more than 1,000 responses.
Activities introduced since the assessment include a walking group, exercise classes, community lunches, a wellbeing breakfast and activities for children.
Active Communities is also working to encourage more residents to volunteer and help shape activities in the area.
A community meeting and meal is planned for October to update residents on the work carried out since the needs assessment.
