An InPost parcel locker has opened outside Johnstone Burgh FC’s Keanie Park ground on Auchenlodment Road. It is accessible 24 hours a day.
Customers can choose a locker when ordering online. Once a parcel arrives, InPost sends a QR code and a collection code by email or text. Customers have three days to collect it.
InPost lockers can also be used to send parcels and return online orders.
Johnstone Burgh general manager Vic Young said: “Burgh are always looking for ways to benefit the community, and we hope this will do that. Inpost offers a quick and safe way to collect parcels, in a simple and convenient set up”
He added: “We hope it becomes a handy choice for people in Johnstone and Elderslie looking to save a bit of time.”
“If anyone wants to come inside while they are there and see the Burgh set up, we are open 12-4pm Mon-Friday.”
Councillor Andy Steel, SNP representative for Johnstone South and Elderslie, welcomed the locker.
He said: “The rise in online shopping we’ve seen in recent years isn’t going to go away, so it needs managed as effectively as possible. I’m glad to see the Burgh providing this service to the area.”
“Sub post offices are getting like hen’s teeth, so we need a local alternative. This facility will certainly be handy for residents, and if it cuts down on the number of vans driving about the streets, could be a little bit better for traffic and pollution as well.”
