Eight young men have been presented with The Boys’ Brigade’s highest honour, the King’s Badge, at a civic reception in Paisley.

Provost Lorraine Cameron hosted the reception at Paisley West Church and presented the badges to the recipients.

Battalion president David Love praised the young men for their work to achieve the award.

He said: “Much has changed since the founding of The Boys’ Brigade, with increasing pressures from society. Young people are often stereotyped, criticised, and judged by others, but the young men before us demonstrate a deep commitment to developing their interests and taking responsibility within the BB and their local community. The achievements and positive stories of our recipients should not be overlooked.”

Provost Cameron said: “Wear these badges with pride and let others know what you have achieved. Put your award on your CV and on your personal statement when applying for college or university, and tell your friends what you have done for your community in Renfrewshire. Not only is Renfrewshire Council proud of you, but your families must also feel immense pride in your accomplishments.”

A spokesperson for Paisley and District Boys’ Brigade added: “King’s Badge recipients across the UK have contributed over 75,000 hours of community service, with these young men giving a minimum of 60 hours each to causes across Renfrewshire—supporting hospices, care homes, nurseries, local radio, and food banks.

“Some have dedicated well over 100 hours to helping others, all while balancing their studies or work alongside completing weekend residential courses. We are delighted to add these young men to our list of ‘King’s Men.’”
