West Scotland regional list result has now been declared at Braehead Arena

Seven additional MSPs have been elected through the regional system:

Malcolm Offord (Reform UK)
David Smith (Reform UK)
Ross Greer (Scottish Greens)
Cara McKee (Scottish Greens)
Russell Findlay (Conservatives)

The declaration brings the Renfrewshire count to a close after the SNP held all three constituency seats earlier in the day.

Still waiting

The declaration of the West Scotland regional list result is now expected at around 9.20pm.

Seven additional MSPs will be elected through the regional list system, which is designed to make the overall result more proportional across the West Scotland region.

The regional count combines votes from constituencies including Paisley, Renfrewshire North and Cardonald, Renfrewshire West and Levern Valley, Inverclyde, Eastwood and Dumbarton.

There has been a further delay to the declaration of the West Scotland regional list result.

The result is now expected at around 8pm as counting continues at Braehead Arena.

All three Renfrewshire constituency seats have already been declared, with the SNP holding Paisley, Renfrewshire North and Cardonald, and Renfrewshire West and Levern Valley.

Recap: SNP hold all three Renfrewshire constituency seats

The SNP has retained all three Renfrewshire constituency seats in the 2026 Scottish Parliament election.

George Adam held Paisley, Michelle Campbell won the new Renfrewshire North and Cardonald constituency, and Tom Arthur retained Renfrewshire West and Levern Valley.

Counting is still continuing for the West Scotland regional list vote, with the result now expected at around 7.15pm.

SNP hold Renfrewshire West and Levern Valley constituency

Tom Arthur has been re-elected as MSP for Renfrewshire West and Levern Valley after the SNP held the constituency in the 2026 Scottish Parliament election.

The SNP candidate secured 13,819 votes.

Labour’s Paul O’Kane finished second with 10,548 votes, while Reform UK’s Jamie McGuire placed third with 5,844 votes.

Mr Arthur’s majority over Labour was 3,271 votes.

Turnout in the constituency was 54.1%, with 34,393 votes cast.

SNP hold Renfrewshire North and Cardonald

Michelle Campbell has been elected as the first MSP for the new Renfrewshire North and Cardonald constituency after holding the seat for the SNP.

The SNP candidate secured 14,300 votes, ahead of Labour’s Mike McKirdy on 9,424.

Reform UK’s Moira Ramage finished third with 7,083 votes.

Turnout in the constituency was 53.8%.

George Adam has been re-elected as MSP for Paisley

George Adam has been re-elected as MSP for Paisley after holding the constituency for the SNP.

The SNP candidate secured 13,164 votes (42.6%) to finish ahead of Labour’s Neil Bibby on 10,136 votes.

Reform UK’s Alec Leishman placed third with 4,620 votes.

The result gives Mr Adam a majority of 3,028 votes over Labour.

Turnout in the constituency was 50.5%, with 31,013 votes cast.

Votes from the Paisley, Renfrewshire North and Cardonald, and Renfrewshire West and Levern Valley constituencies will be counted today, along with the West Scotland regional list.

All timings remain subject to change depending on the speed of the count and any recount requests.

Hundreds of staff worked across Renfrewshire

Voting took place at 68 polling places and 190 polling stations across Renfrewshire.

Around 500 election staff worked throughout polling day.

More than 188,000 people were registered to vote across the three constituencies, with more than 33,000 postal votes issued ahead of the election.

10pm: Polls close across Renfrewshire

Polling stations have now closed across Renfrewshire and the rest of Scotland following voting in the 2026 Scottish Parliament election.

Ballot boxes are now being transported to Braehead Arena ahead of Friday’s count.
