Renfrewshire Council have gave the keys of a run down building in Lochwinnoch to a local woman.
The building, Lochwinnoch Annexe was closed by the council in 2011.
The new building may be the home for at least two charities, a base for the Scottish Spiritualist Church, a community cafe and a sports hub.
The building has been taken over by Victoria Lee, who has a charity called Glitter Beach that makes swimwear for patients who wear stoma bags. She also plans to invite Macmillan Cancer Care to use the premises.
Victoria told local newspaper, the Paisley Daily Express: “This has been about a year in the planning. There’s a lot of work to do but we’ll get there.
“We’re meeting with Renfrewshire Sports Hub to bring new sports to the park, like cricket and tennis:’ Victoria said. We also want to have tea dances for the elderly in the village and fitness classes in the evening.
“Eventually, we want to apply for lottery funding to build a second floor for offices. We’d like that to have a balcony and perhaps host weddings in the future.
“It’s going to be fantastic. The response so far has been phenomenal.”
If you would like to help Victoria the building needs two roller shutter doors repaired or replaced as well as eight small windows in the building. She’s also looking for a new boiler, disabled toilet, new flooring for the main hall, a carpet for the front hall and two bifold doors.
