A couple have been robbed in Elm Drive after three masked assailants forced their way into their home during a late-night raid.
A 25-year-old man answered the door to his house on Saturday night when the masked robbers forced their way inside.
The robbers temporarily blinded the man with a spray, similar to CS Gas, before brandishing a knife and demanding money from the couple at around 11.30pm.
They also threatened the man’s 20-year-old girlfriend before making off with only a two-figure sum of cash in a silver saloon car from the property on Elm Drive.
Police described the robbery as “absolutely terrifying” and urged any witnesses to come forward.
The first suspect is described as between 5ft 5in and 5ft 9in, of slim build, wearing a light blue zipper top with a white logo and light grey jogging bottoms.
Officers say the second suspect was wearing a dark-coloured hooded tracksuit top and bottoms and the third suspect dark clothing.
Detective Sergeant Gordon McRae, of Paisley CID, said: “It was absolutely terrifying for the couple involved, who thankfully were not injured, although they did receive treatment at home following the spraying of a substance into their eyes.
“It would appear that the three men involved thought that there was money within the house.
“The three suspects made off in a silver coloured saloon car towards Sycamore Avenue and although it was late at night, people may have seen or heard something that will help us with our enquiries.
“I would ask that they, or anyone who has information, contact detectives at Paisley Police Office on the non emergency number 101.”
