Last week we reported that the Johnstone’s Co-operative food was to relocate to an old charity shop – we can say this is not going to happen.

The Arcade is owned by Rosemount Properties and Councillor Andy Doig revealed last week that Johnstone’s Co-operative food had resigned to move into the vacant Cancer Research shop and that he was told this by Rosemount Properties.

The Co-operative answer was this…

A Co-operative spokesperson told local newspaper The Gazette this week: “We are not downsizing our store in Johnstone, nor are we opening a smaller store elsewhere in the town. As we announced earlier this month, the store will close on Saturday, November 22.”

But…

Co-operative group confirmed that it had agreed to take over the lease of the Cancer Research shop, but now they won’t be occupying it.
