A recent survey for the Big Lottery Fund has shown that 6 out of 10 people say they cannot remember ever coming together to celebrate with their community.

The Big Lottery Fund wants to help change this with their Celebrate programme. They are offering grants of between £500 and £5,000 for groups to hold one off events or activities which celebrate their local community.

This could also include celebrating something from your community’s history or a local hero. Or maybe it’s a chance to bring people together to get to know their neighbours better. There is £575,000 available now for projects in Scotland.

The Celebrate programme opened on 6th July and is available to local community and voluntary groups.

Mags MacLaren SNP Councillor for Paisley North West said: “This is a great opportunity for local community groups to access funding to help them celebrate their local communities.

“There are many groups across my ward and the whole of Renfrewshire which rely on the hard work and dedication of local residents. This fund can help them bring together their communities to celebrate local achievements or events.

“I would encourage as many groups as possible to apply for this before the funding runs out.”
