Gary, who plays hairdresser Robbie Fraser in the popular BBC show teamed up with top Scots chef, John Quigley to host the free Great Taste cookery event, in Soar at intu Braehead.

And nine-year-old Eve Rogan, from Glenburn, in Paisley got in on the kitchen action with the duo and tasted some of the pakora John had just cooked.

Hundreds of people got the chance to see John – a former rock ‘n’ roll chef, who now runs the popular Red Onion restaurant, in Glasgow – in action over a hot stove.

In a previous culinary career, John was the concert tour chef to rock stars such as Tina Turner, Bryan Adams, Guns ‘n’ Roses, Elton John, Janet Jackson and the Bee Gees.

And yesterday he demonstrated how to cook some of the mouth-watering Mexican, Italian, Indian and American dishes that are served in restaurants in Soar at intu Braehead.

Marketing manager at intu Braehead, Christine Macdonald said: “Putting ace chef John together with the hilarious presenter that is Gary was certainly a recipe for a fun and informative afternoon.

“And to put the icing on the cake, so to speak, lots of people got the chance to taste the delicious dishes that John cooked for everyone.”
