A team of Scottish Water workers recently helped improve the environment in Lochwinnoch for local people and visitors to the area.
Eight workers from Scottish Water’s Customer Service and Capital Investment team carried out some volunteering at the RSPB nature reserve in Lochwinnoch.
The workers, Jim Madden, Malcolm Tierney, Alex McCrystal, Alan Dick, Alex Milligan, Jim Coyle, Kevin McKeeman and Linda Milne, carried out some scrub clearing and litter picking at the front of the reserve entrance to improve it for the public and visitors to the reserve.
Fiona Burley, Scottish Water’s volunteering programme co-ordinator, said: “We were delighted that our volunteers were able to make a positive difference to improve this area of the RSPB nature reserve at Lochwinnoch.
“Scottish Water’s volunteering programme was launched in spring 2011 and has proved to be very popular with our employees. Scottish Water is a key part of communities across Scotland and we are always pleased to be able to help with this kind of voluntary work.”
Tabby Lamont, assistant site manager at the nature reserve, said: “Once again, the Scottish Water workhorses did a fantastic job! They cleared scrub, brambles and litter from between the footpath and road, making it far more pleasant to walk along between the village and the reserve/railway station.
“We greatly appreciate their help and the time they took to tidy up the area at the reserve entrance.”
