Detectives are appealing for witnesses following an incident that occurred in Paisley on Saturday (19/11/16).Around 11pm, a 54 year-old woman was walking home along Glasgow Road in Paisley.
Close to the junction with Kilnside Road, a woman grabbed her hair from behind and pulled her to the ground and attempted to snatch her handbag.
The victum struggled with the suspect before the suspect ran off empty handed back in the direction of Paisley town centre by foot.
The woman is described as a white and around 5 foot tall with black hair. She was wearing dark clothing and lighter coloured footwear.
Detective Sergeant Craig Riddell from Paisley CID is leading the investigation. He said today: “This was a terrifying ordeal for the victim, who was thankfully not seriously injured, but still left badly shaken.
“To attack someone from behind and attempt to steal their possessions is a particularly cowardly act. We will trace the suspect and ensure she is held to account for her actions.
“I am appealing for any witnesses to come forward who may have witnessed or heard the disturbance. You may have seen a woman matching the suspect description running towards the centre of Paisley from Glasgow Road.
