Gavin Newlands, SNP Candidate for Paisley and Renfrewshire North, has launched his campaign to be re-elected as the MP for Paisley and Renfrewshire North.

Mr Newlands joined activists and newly elected councillors in Renfrew and Erskine, speaking to voters about the importance of voting SNP to ensure that Scotland’s voice continues to be heard in Westminster.

Gavin Newlands, SNP Candidate for Paisley and Renfrewshire North, said: “This General Election will be a straight contest between the SNP and the Tories. For the past two years, the SNP MPs have been the effective opposition at Westminster, holding the Tories to account from Brexit to the Rape Clause to austerity and their vicious cuts to welfare.

“The Labour Party are in complete disarray, preferring to fight with one another rather than opposing the Tories. Due to their incompetence, the Tories are expected to strengthen their majority and as such it’s vitally important that we have strong Scottish voices at Westminster who will oppose the Tories’ right-wing divisive agenda.

“It’s been a great honour to represent Paisley and Renfrewshire North in the UK Parliament. I have ensured that Renfrewshire’s voice has been heard in Westminster like never before and have also been able to help thousands of local people with a wide range of issues.

“The SNP will always stand up for Scotland and I will always stand up for the people of Paisley and Renfrewshire. I want to continue my work representing the people of Paisley and Renfrewshire North. A vote for the SNP is to have a strong and effective opposition to the Tories.
