Local charities and groups are being invited to apply for cash for projects that promote heart healthy initiatives.

A funding pot of £10,000  is available for original, innovative projects that promote heart health and help reduce the risk of developing heart disease.

They could address a variety of issues such as healthy eating, physical activity, smoking cessation and mental well-being, all with a focus on the heart.

Grants are only available to not-for-profit organisations, including:

  • Charities
  • Community groups
  • Voluntary organisations
  • Sports groups

Previous applicants and grantees can apply.

The Heart Research UK and SUBWAY Healthy Heart Grants are funded by the SUBWAY Helping Hearts Family 5K events and in-store fundraising across SUBWAY stores. To apply visit the Heart Research UK website.

Speaking about the grants, Mags MacLaren, SNP Councillor for Paisley North West said: “This is a good opportunity for many groups in Renfrewshire who already provide services aimed at improving people’s health to apply for some extra funding.

“I would encourage local groups to visit the website and see if they are eligible for this funding.”
