Police have launched a murder inquiry after a 31-year-old man was found with serious injuries in the Foxbar area of Paisley.
Craig McLelland, 31 , father of three young boys, died in hospital shortly after he was stabbed and left bleeding in the middle of Tweed Avenue.
Officers received a report around 11.20pm that a man had been stabbed during an altercation, paramedics rushed Mr McLelland to the Royal Alexandra Hospital but died later of his injuries.
Extensive enquiries are underway, with officers examining CCTV footage as well as conducting door to door enquiries.
Detective Superintendent Allan Burton from Police Scotland’s Major Investigation Team West said: “Mr McLelland has died following a violent attack which took place in the middle of the street and it is vital that we trace the person or persons responsible.
“I would appeal to anyone who was in Tweed Avenue, or the surrounding area, between 11.30pm and 12.30am hours on Sunday 23rd July to please come forward as you may be able to assist with our investigation.

Relatives are aware and a report will be sent to the Procurator Fiscal.
