Volunteers at Sma’ Shot Cottages in Paisley have received the Queens Award for Voluntary Service.
The award was handed over by Her Majesty’s Lord Lieutenant of Renfrewshire, Guy Clark at a presentation today at the cottage.
Old Paisley Society, who run and maintains the cottages said: “It is with great pleasure that we announce that the volunteers of the Old Paisley Society, Sma’ Shot Cottages, are proud recipients of the Queens Award for Voluntary Service, 2017.

“The hard work each and every one of our volunteers puts in to preserving Paisley’s weaving heritage, and passing on this knowledge to our visitors, local, national and international, will be recognised in receiving this prestigious award. We thank them all for their dedication in all areas; be it guiding, helping in the tearoom and shop, maintenance, keeping the books in order, and especially for coming week after week, rain or shine, always with a smile (and a laugh!); for keeping Paisley’s weaving past alive.
“The Queens Award for Voluntary Service is the MBE for volunteers, and will be presented to the volunteers of the Sma’ Shot Cottages today.”

“Learn all about Paisley’s textile heritage, and immerse yourself in the life of the Paisley weaver, seeing how both weaver’s and their families lived and worked, in two distinct periods of textile production in the town. We will have weaving demonstrations, tours with our costumed guides, tea and cake available in the tearoom, and souvenirs to purchase from our shop.”
