Dunfermline 3 – 0 St Mirren

A hopeful Saints side had its dreams shattered with a royal thumping at the hands Dunfermline  In addition to the three goals, two Saints players were sent off. With 6826 spectators, long queues delayed the match by 15 minutes.  Although Reilly had a decent chance two minutes in, the ball was played past the post. A subsequent free kick at the 5 minute mark bounced off the wall.  In the 20th minute Declan McManus opened the scoring for the hosts 1-0 Dunfermline

In the 37th minute there was a big chance as Reilly cut the ball back into the box, but Stelios was unable to move ahead of the Dunfermline player.  Just ahead of the halftime whistle, Dunfermline expanded the lead to 2-0, with a superb finish by David Hopkirk from the edge of the box.

To overcome the 2-0 deficit Saints needed a big second half.  John Sutton was in for Stelios after the break.  Saints pressed for the first five minutes, but it was Dunfermline that increased their lead to 3-0 in the 56th minute with a goal from Callum Morris.  A few corners and opportunities for both sides, which left St. Mirren fruitless.  Ross Stewart took to the pitch 75th minute for Reilly.  Then four minutes later when Josh Todd replaced Cammy Smith.

The final three minutes turned into a disaster when Adam Eckersley received a straight Red Card and Gregor Buchanan his second yellow.   Final score 3-0 Dunfermline.

The Saints will have to regroup after this match and come back stronger than before.
