This week is national eye health week and local MP for Paisley and Renfrewshire South Mhairi Black is encouraging constituents to make sure that they have regular check-ups at their local opticians.

Mhairi said “I would encourage local people to take advantage of the annual free eye tests that are available in Scotland. The Scottish Government have protected free eye tests for everyone in Scotland and it is vital that we use this to our advantage to avoid health risks.

“Having regular eye checks can help to identify signs of conditions such as blindness, glaucoma, diabetes, heart disease and brain tumours.

“Please make use of the service available at opticians as it could potentially reduce a risk to your health and wellbeing.”
