A charity worker from Paisley will be hosting a free Christmas Lunch for 200 people who would have otherwise spent it on their own.
Jodie Campbell, for the third year running, plans another meal but needs the help of the people of Renfrewshire to raise money for the event to happen.
Speaking via Facebook she made an appeal for everyone to help, she said: “I would like you to help me make Christmas Day a happy time for people living in our community.
“For the last three years in a row – this will be our third year – I have been lucky to be involved in a large group of volunteers. We’ve come together, to bring local people who are struggling, or who may be alone, or hungry on Christmas Day, to provide them with a three-course lunch and entertainment.
“We’ve organised everything from transport to the meal to pipers and singers but we really need your help this year.
“When we first said in the first year that we were going to get 100 people together, people told us that it wouldn’t work, we wouldn’t be able to get people there, no one would want to go and no one would want to help us.
“Actually, the whole community of Renfrewshire has helped us to prove people wrong.
“For the past two years, there’s been more than 200 guests and volunteers and guests in the room on each day. And that’s where I need your help.”
“If people don’t know about the lunch then they can’t come,” she said. “So if you know someone who might be alone, struggling or hungry on Christmas Day, then please, please put them in touch with us.”
Last year Jodie held the event in the Tweedie Hall, Linwood and the previous year at Glasgow Airport Holiday Inn.
