The Glasgow Glasgow Science Centre has successfully sent a Tunnock’s teacake into space.
The experiment was launched from our very own Houston – Renfrewshire from a bowling green!
Terry the Teacake, named by staff at the Science Centre, reached 37,007 metres in one hour 29 minutes.
The whole event was streamed live from their Facebook account.
It took Terry 40 minutes to return to earth where he landed in a tree in Galloway Forrest Park, surprisingly intact.
Dr Stephen Breslin, chief executive of Glasgow Science Centre said: “We engage people with space science every day, and we thought what better way to spark people’s imaginations and interest in STEM than for us to launch something into space ourselves.
“We are delighted by how many people joined us at GSC, and online, to watch Terry’s space adventures.
On the Science centre Facebook page they posted: “A NATION WAITS.
“Terry The Teacake has finished his training. It’s time for Science Sam to send him out of this world.
“We launch from Houston (Renfrewshire) as we seek the answer to the big question on Scotland’s lips…
