Braehead based Snow Factor has been named the Digital Business of the Year at the Scottish section of the Celebrating Small Business Awards 2018.

The awards are run by the Federation of Small Businesses, and this is the first time there has been a Scottish section which makes Snow Factor the inaugural winners.

Snow Factor is Scotland’s only indoor real snow arena, and is owned by the Ice Factor Group, which also owns the Ice Factor National Ice Climbing Centre at Kinlochleven.

The scale of The Ice Factor Group’s achievement was revealed when they came out ahead of 20,000 other FSB members in Scotland to win the award. They are now looking forward to further success in the FSB UK Final to be held in London in May this year.

West of Scotland Conservative MSP Maurice Golden offered his congratulations by submitting a motion in the Scottish Parliament to formally recognise the firm’s success.

Mr Golden said: “I am delighted to see a Renfrewshire business pick up such a prestigious award – it’s a testament both to the hard work of the people behind the business, but also says a lot about the high calibre of businesses in Renfrewshire. Now it is on to the UK Finals, and I wish them every success for that.”

Jane Strang, Councillor for Renfrewshire North and Braehead, said: “I would like to offer my congratulations too – it’s great to see the hard work put into local businesses paying off, and it helps to showcase Renfrewshire as an attractive place to start a company. I hope this is a sign of further success and awards to come”.

Mr Golden’s motion is as follows:

Braehead’s Snow Factor Named Digital Business of the Year

That the Parliament congratulates Braehead-based Snow Factor on being named Digital Business of the Year at the Scottish section of the Federation of Small Business’s (FSB) Celebrating Small Business Awards 2018; understands that Snow Factor, Scotland’s only indoor real snow arena, is owned by the Ice Factor Group, which also operates the Ice Factor Kinlochleven, and that both are thriving due to significantly improved digital marketing; notes that this was the first time that a Scottish section of the awards had been held, which makes the Ice Factor Group the inaugural winner of the digital award category; recognises that, with 20,000 FSB members in Scotland, winning this award is a significant achievement; believes that it is a testament to the high quality of businesses in Renfrewshire, and wishes the Ice Factor Group every success at the forthcoming FSB Awards UK Final, which will be held in London in May 2018.
