Once again after visiting Blackstoun Road with my camera to shoot the plant life, it wasn’t long before I walk right into endless fly tipping that‘s been going on for as long as I can remember.

Inkerman back when I was a child use to grow spuds and turnips while Gypsies and travellers used it as a place to set up camp behind what use to be the back of Chrysler car plan. Though now the land behind the old defunct Chrysler rail bridge has long gone to seed and pretty wild plants and bushes.

There are along around three dirt tracks that allow people and vehicles get around and being out the way and at the back of Ferguslie Park. This makes a perfect dumping ground for unscrupulous cowboys who’ll do all those dirty jobs on the cheep with the aim of illegally dumping it while taking your waste with a smile.

Getting into this land you can either enter via the old railway bridge, though the owners have tried in vain to block their passage with a dirt embankment that spoils the view into the field. Then just up by the Ferguslie bowls club there’s a wee house that’s just been reconditions with a path that takes you right to where most of the car tyres have been dumped..

Each time I take a wander around these old fields I find endless piles if tyres to which some in the past have been set on fire while scaring the land. Or you find massive piles of building and house waste along with the worst of the worse, asbestos.. That stuff is deadly to breath in and even this has been set on fire in the past sending cancerous plums of smoke right back into Ferguslie and beyond.

We’ll today was a first for me when I found a large pile of gas canisters of various sizes, though why anyone would dump what they could have cashed in at any scrap yard is anyone’s guess..

Though what worries me about all of this is. What if just one child sets fire to the car tyres while throwing in one of those massive gas canisters that results in a massive explosion causing a serious accident or the death of someone due to cowboys constant and brazen fly tipping.

Renfrewshire are forever calling on the public to clean up their street for free where I’m calling on Renfrewshire to block or gate these entrances before someone is seriously hurt. Hell the land alone is already suffering due to the harmful waste being dumped relentlessly.
