The body of a 14-year-old boy has been recovered from Glenburn Reservoir.

He has been named locally as Ben Thomson.

A rescue helicopter and police marine unit was dispatched yesterday along with the fire and ambulance service in response to a 999 call of ‘someone in the water’ around 5.30pm.

Ben was recovered by rescue workers at around 8.10pm.

Police Scotland confirmed that his family members have been made aware and the death is not being treated as suspicious.

A report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.

A Just Giving donation page has been setup to help support the Thomson family. The fund so far sits at £4,168.
