Police have made an appeal to motorists to stop parking in front of dropped kerbs which obstruct parents and people with mobility issues accessing the pavement.
Lowered kerbs allow residents who use wheelchair and scooters as well as parents with prams to access pavements. Users of lowered kerbs have told officers that this is an issue encountered daily by members of the community where they find them blocked by cars.
Inspector Tracy Harkins, from Paisley’s Community Policing Team, said: “I’m sure that the majority of people are not actually aware of the consequences of parking there vehicle at a dropped kerb hence the reason for bringing it to your attention. Please consider where you are parking your vehicle as this can impact the life of other people.
“It is not illegal to park your car blocking a dropped kerb but if drivers were to refrain from doing it would greatly assist people who need to use these including vulnerable people within the community.”
