A local councillor has welcomed the installation of two new bus stops in Ferguslie.

Councillor Mags MacLaren received a complain about the distance between bus stops from a constituent who has mobility issues. The issue focused on the space between Barskiven Road, particularly next to Whitesbrige Avenue.

The elected member then contacted council officers and put forward a case to look again at the provision of bus stops.

Councillor Mags MacLaren, SNP Paisley Northwest said was pleased to see two new stops have now been installed.

Cllr MacLaren told Renfrewshire News: “A constituent had highlighted the lack of bus stops on this stretch of Barskiven Road and asked if I could help.

“My constituent had complained about difficulties using the existing bus stops on Barskiven Road and I agreed with him.

“I raised the issue with council officers, highlighting the distances between the existing stops were a problem for people with disabilities. I am pleased that officers agreed with me and new bus stops have been installed in this section of Barskiven Road, not far from the junction with Whitesbridge Avenue.”
