Police are appealing for information following a fire in Hillington Industrial Estate on Saturday.

The fire service attended a report of rubbish on fire outside the front of Mr Deng’s Home Improvement Warehouse in Barrie Road, Hillington Industrial Estate.

The fire was extinguished at around 10.15pm and no-one was injured although there was heavy smoke damage to the premises.

Enquiries have revealed that there were five males seen hanging around the area and that one of the males deliberately started the fire. The males are described as:

The first man is described as thin build wearing a black hooded top, black shorts and dark trainers. The second as also thin build wearing a blue tracksuit top with a white stripe on the back and dark trousers.

The third male is of thin build wearing a dark top and red trousers and the forth and fifth as thin build wearing dark coloured tracksuits.

Detective Constable Jamie Howarth at Paisley CID said: “This was a very senseless and reckless act to carry out and thankfully no-one was hurt.

“I urge anyone who saw the group of males hanging around the area or anyone who knows their identity to contact police at Paisley via telephone number 101.

“Alternatively calls can be made to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 where anonymity can be maintained.”
