Police have made an appeal for wintnesses after a man was robbed in Paisley yesterday morning.

The robbery happened at around 5.30am when a 29-year-old man was approached from behind by another man, in the middle of the road outside a funeral directors, who cycled into Lady Lane on what is described as an orange bike.

He then threatened him with a knife and demanded money, which was refused, before grabbing his mobile phone from his hand.

The man responsible, who is described as having short hair, wearing a tracksuit and a scarf covering the lower half of his face, then made off on the bike towards George Street.

Detective Constable Heather Strathearn, of Paisley CID, is appealing for anyone who was in the area at the time and who may have witnessed the robbery to get in touch.

She said: “If you witnessed what happened or recognise the description of the man who carried out the robbery please get in touch. Anyone with information which could help our enquiries should contact me via 101 quoting reference 0958 of 10 August 2019.

“Information can also be given anonymously to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”
