Two Paisley councillors have welcomed the resurfacing of Ferguslie Park Avenue claiming the previous Labour administration didn’t feel it was a priority.

SNP councillors for Paisley Northwest Mags and Kenny MacLaren told Renfrewshire News they have been requesting the resurfacing of this road for a number of years but the previous administration always felt it wasn’t a priority. However, with the additional funding arranged by the SNP administration for road repairs, this road has eventually been upgraded, along with nearby Barskiven Road.

Councillor Mags MacLaren, said: “We’ve been asking officers to resurface Ferguslie Park Avenue for quite a while but this has only become possible due to the SNP’s additional funding for road repairs.”

Husband, and fellow Councillor Kenny MacLaren, added: “The road surface at Ferguslie Park Avenue has been a disgrace for a number of years, especially the end next to St Mirren’s stadium.

“It’s great to see that it has now been resurfaced and this will be welcomed by residents and the many people who use this road. It is also great that Barskiven Road has also had the same treatment as this route into the shops at the Phoenix estate has been getting increasingly busy over the past few years.”
