Counting of votes has begun in Renfrewshire as Council staff are currently sorting and counting postal ballot papers.
The ballot boxes from polling stations are now starting to arrive at the Lagoon Leisure Centre with the result expected to be declared in the early hours of tomorrow morning.
Gavin Newlands, candidate for Paisley and Renfrewshire North shared the photo below on his social network channels while outside a polling booth in Renfrew.
He said: “Well that 3 hours has flown in, although my feet are like blocks of ice.
“Thanks to Labour activist Liz for the friendly chat. Remember folks, be nice to everyone, regardless of who they represent or vote for. No need whatsoever for rudeness or abuse.”

On the A737 though Johnstone, flags could be seen with the words ‘Tories out’ and ‘Save the NHS’ along a footbridge. Drivers took to social media to share the sight.

Scottish Lib Dems candidate Jack Clark wished fellow candidates Mhairi Black, Mark Dougan and Moira Ramage good luck.
He said on Twitter: “Just went and voted for myself, its a strange feeling but I’m so glad that I stood to give Paisley and Renfrewshire South the opportunity to have the liberal voice at Westminster it so desperately needs. Good luck to Mark Dougan, Moira Ramage and Mhairi Black today.”
Gavin Newlands, SNP candidate for Paisley and Renfrewshire North, said: “Can I say a huge thank you to everyone who has helped in this epic campaign, my opponents for campaigning with respect, and of course all of you who voted for me.”
