The Renfrewshire and Inverclyde branch of Home-Start has received a donation of £1,000 just in time for Christmas, thanks to the team at Amazon’s fulfilment centre in Gourock.
The charity provides support for families across Inverclyde who are facing difficult times. The charity works with vulnerable families in Gourock and across the region, providing practical aid and emotional support through a series of initiatives including dedicated Family Workers and a 1:1 intensive programme of support.
Amazon in Gourock has supported Home-Start locally for the last four years. In celebration of this year’s donation, members of the Amazon team attended one of Home-Start’s Christmas parties for local families at Fun World in Greenock.
Speaking on the on-going support of Home-Start, Amazon Gourock’s Site Leader Lorna Sharples said: “Home-Start is a charity that we’re immensely proud to support and our team really enjoyed meeting up with the staff, volunteers, parents and little ones at the Christmas party. Home-Start’s work in our community is vital and we’re pleased we’re able to lend a helping hand once again this year with the donation. On behalf of our team at Amazon in Gourock, I’d like to wish everyone at the charity and the families they support a very Merry Christmas.”
Iain MacDonald from Home-Start in Renfrewshire and Inverclyde added: “It’s fantastic to get this donation from the team at Amazon in Gourock. They’ve been supporting us for four years now and we’re grateful to Lorna and her team for helping us out again this Christmas. Donations from local businesses like Amazon are so important to help us continue our work in the local community and we’d all like to say a big thank you to the team for the on-going support.”
The ongoing support of Home-Start forms part of the ‘Amazon in the Community’ programme whereby the company supports the communities around its operating locations across the UK.
