Police Scotland have made an appeal for information from members of the public to identify two men following a ‘suspicious incident’ in Houston.

Two men, who had their faces covered and wearing hoods, were seen in the Murchiston Road/Hewett Crescent area in Houston. One was seen jogging past houses with a torch, while the second was seen in the garden of a house.

One of the men was chased along Hewitt Crescent by a member of the public when he stopped and made threats in an effort to escape. The man got in as a passenger to a white Audi saloon car which then made off.

Detective Constable Ashley O’Neill at Paisley CID said: “The description we have of these two men in relation to the Houston incident is as follows: the first was around 5’9″ tall, stocky build and was wearing a striped hooded top with alternating light and dark grey stripes. The second man was also about 5’9” tall, medium build and was wearing a light brown hooded top and dark trousers.

“Both men spoke with southern English accents. Anyone who may have seen or heard anything suspicious in the Houston area on Wednesday, or at any of the other locations should get in touch with us on the 101 number, quoting the reference number 3033 8 January 2020.

Officers have said that the insdient in Houston may be linked to other robbery’s, one in Glasgow and another in Ardrossan.

Around 6.30pm on Sunday, 5th January, 2020, a similar incident occurred in Haberlea Avenue in Glasgow, when a house was broken into, and around £300 in cash and a quantity of jewellery was stolen.

On Monday, 6th January, 2020, in Kirkhall Gardens in Ardrossan, another house was broken into and a large quantity of money stolen. Three men, all wearing balaclavas were observed. Again, a white Audi saloon car was seen in the area.
