Three children have died and their mother remains in a critically ill condition in hospital, after a fire in their flat in the Gallowhill area of Paisley.
Fiona Gibson, 12, and her brothers Alexander, eight, and Philip, five, died at the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in Glasgow a short time after admission.
The children’s mother, 39-year-old Julie Daley, remains in a critical condition in the Royal Alexander Hospital in Paisley.
A fire broke out at around 9pm on Friday evening in the top floor flat of the family home in Renfrew Road, Paisley. The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service confirmed six fire crews attended the “well-developed” blaze along with paramedics and police officers.
Alex Gibson, the children’s father, is understood to have been out when the fire started. He wrote on Facebook yesterday afternoon: “May u rest in peace little angels.” He later added: “How I miss them already, now I know what it feels like when ur world comes crashing down.”
A Police Scotland spokesperson, said: “An investigation is underway to establish the exact circumstances of this incident.
“Anyone who has information that could assist our enquiries should contact police via telephone number 101 quoting incident number 3669 of 19 June 2020.”
A report will be sent to the Procurator Fiscal.
