A driver has escaped serious injuries after his car crashed into the exterior of a branch of Bank of Scotland in Johnstone.

According to an eyewitness an elderly male driver of a white Nissan Juke mounted the kerb, hit the metal barrier and smashed into a window.

No passersby or Bank of Scotland staff or customers were injured.

The incident happened at around 11.10am on High Street, Johnstone.

A police spokeswoman said: “We received a report of a road traffic collision on High Street, Johnstone, around 11.10am on Monday, July 20, 2020.

“A Nissan Juke collided with a building and the male driver has been taken to the Royal Alexandra Hospital as a precaution.”
