An upgrade of the children’s play park at Thomas Shanks Park on Quarrelton Road is Johnstone is underway.
The park will, for the first time, feature equipment for children with additional support needs including a wheelchair-friendly roundabout and a host of sensory-based play activities for younger children.
The work is expected to take three weeks to complete.
The new features, that will replace all the old equipment, include a cantilever basket swing, wheelchair-friendly roundabout, hammock and double spring see-saw, a cone climber, gravity rider, mini basket swing and a rope web game. The sensory play items will include talk tubes, naught and crosses play panel, musical play panel, babel drum, glockenspiel and a mirror play panel.
The park upgrades are part of Renfrewshire Council’s Green Spaces, Parks and Play Areas and Villages Investment Fund.
