A woman has died following a large fire at a block of flats in the Gallowhill area of Paisley.

Fire crews battled a large blaze at eight homes through the night which was thought to have started at around 10.45pm on Belmont Road, Paisley.

Police Scotland has confirmed that a 38-year-old woman was pronounced dead at the scene.

Officers remain at the scene this morning as enquiries into the fire continue. An appeal for information has been launched and anyone with any information can contact officers by calling number 101 quoting reference number 3922 of 13 April 2023.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 10.45pm on Thursday, 13 April, 2023, police were called to reports of a fire at a property on Belmont Road, Paisley.

“A 38-year-old woman was pronounced dead at the scene.

“Officers remain in attendance and enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances.

“Anyone with information should call 101 quoting reference 3922 of 13 April, 2023.”
