A Police officer attended hospital after he was injured during a disturbance in the Millarston area of Paisley.

The incident occurred at a row of shops at Ferguslie Retail Park in Millarston, Paisley at around 7.55pm on Sunday.

A 26-year-old man was arrested and was due to appear at Paisley Sheriff Court yesterday.

An officer sustained an arm injury during the incident and was treated at the Royal Alexandra Hospital in Paisley.

A witness told Renfrewshire News, “A bloke was restrained and put in the back of the police van. It took a few of them to control him. The abuse coming from his mouth was shocking.

“He was threating to kill the officers if he could escape from the van.”​

A Police Scotland Spokesperson said: “Officers attended, and a 26-year-old man was arrested and charged in connection with the incident. He was due to appear at Paisley Sheriff Court on Monday, 10 July 2023.

“A male police officer was treated at the Royal Alexandra Hospital in Paisley for an arm injury that he sustained during the incident.”

I was born in the Paisley Maternity Hospital in 1970 I’m going to be a young at heart 53 year old I’ve lived in Paisley most of my life I’ve lived in Renfrew for a short period of 5 years and now I live in Elderslie but I’m very proud to be a Paisley Buddy and always will be growing up in Ferguslie Park was absolutely wonderful the people brought up there were always a very close nit community we moved to Foxbar were I started Camphill High School the people of Paisley have and always will be the to me the beating heart of Renfrewshire.
