A man who died following a fatal crash in Paisley has been named as 88-year-old George Johnston.

On Monday emergency services were called to the collision involving a red Volkswagen Golf, a red Vauxhall Astra and a mobility scooter on Gauze Street at the junction with Silk Street at around 8pm.

George, who was on the mobility scooter, was taken to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital where he died a short time later.
The road was closed for around seven hours.

Sergeant Robert Mackie said: “Our thoughts remain with George’s family and friends at this difficult time.

“Enquiries are ongoing and we are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed the crash to contact us.

“We also ask anyone with dash-cam footage of the area at the time to come forward.

“Anyone with information is asked to contact Police Scotland on 101, quoting incident 3252 of Monday, 1 April, 2024.”
