Free music programme in Johnstone to help young people write and record their own songs

A brand-new music programme is coming to Johnstone this summer – and it’s completely free for young people aged 11 to 14.

Don’t Stop The Music, a community music group, is launching an 8-week songwriting programme at Thorn Athletic Sports Academy, Greenend Avenue, Johnstone. The sessions will run every Wednesday from 5pm to 6:30pm.

Young participants will work in small groups to write and compose their own original song, learn to play a musical instrument of their choice, and professionally record their song at the end of the programme.

Organisers say no experience is needed, and the aim is to boost confidence, creativity, and teamwork – all while having fun and making music.
