A brand-new opticians is set to open later this month in Johnstone, offering local people the very best in optical and audiology care.

Specsavers Johnstone, located at William Street, will officially open to the public on Monday 22nd September, following a six-figure investment in the new store, which will feature four test rooms and a range of services including contact lenses, myopia management and audiology services such as hearing checks and ear wax removal.

Store partners Glenn Dickson, Lynsay Dunlop and Gordon Simpson will bring their expertise to the new location, leading a team of eight – many of whom are taking on newly created roles within the local community.

“Lots of hard work has gone on behind the scenes in the last few months to get the new store ready so I want to say a big thank you to all the team for making it possible,” says Glenn Dickson, store director at Specsavers Johnstone.

“We’re hugely excited to be bringing Specsavers to the people of Johnstone, allowing us to deliver the very best care to more of the local community.”

The store will be open seven days a week and will offer services such as DVLA exams and access to the new specialist independent prescription service for minor eye conditions, such as sore, red eyes or visual concerns.

This service, launched by the NHS last month, aims to reduce pressures on local GP and hospital services, allowing Specsavers staff to diagnose and support any minor eye conditions that customers may be experiencing.

The store will also feature a dedicated hearing room, complete with a sound booth, to allow the team to provide audiology services such as wax removal and hearing device fittings.

State-of-the-art equipment has also been installed throughout the new store, including an Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT) machine. This technology allows optometrists to take a 3D image of the back of the eye to help spot serious eye conditions, including glaucoma, up to four years earlier.

For the store opening, Specsavers will be inviting members of Johnstone Burgh Football team to the new unit for the official opening ceremony.

“It’s going to be a very exciting day and we’d love to invite the community to come along, meet the team and take a tour of our ground-breaking new store.” adds Glenn.
