Paisley-based firm MJC Law has been named as a finalist for High Street Firm of the Year at the 2025 Herald Law Awards of Scotland – a national event recognising excellence across the Scottish legal profession.

The recognition highlights the impact of smaller, community-focused practices that deliver meaningful legal support while staying true to their values.

MJC Law’s work centres on protecting people in debt from homelessness, representing clients in eviction and repossession cases, and working alongside Citizens Advice to address the root causes of financial hardship.

By combining legal representation with practical support, the firm aims to help people stay in their homes and build a more secure future.

Over time, this focus has shaped a wider belief that a strong community starts with a secure home – an ethos that guides the firm’s work with first-time buyers, families planning for the future, and clients seeking stability through wills and powers of attorney.

Owner Matthew Coffield said: “To be recognised among so many respected peers at such a prestigious event is an honour for our whole team. It reflects the work, care, and values that continue to guide us every day, and we look forward to an evening that celebrates the hard work and success of colleagues across Scotland’s legal profession.”
