Police Scotland officers in Renfrewshire have arrested a man following reports of an attempted break-in in Johnstone.

Officers were called to a property after receiving a report of a man trying to gain entry around 11pm on Wednesday, 22nd October 2025.

Following enquiries, a 27-year-old man was arrested on Beith Road for alleged theft-related offences.

Renfrewshire Community Policing Inspector Ross Wilson said: “Crimes of this nature have a serious impact on the victims and the wider community, and will not be tolerated.

“Following extensive enquiries at the time by our dedicated community policing team, the male was quickly traced and charged with multiple alleged acquisitive crime offences. He was held in police custody to appear at Paisley Sheriff Court.

“I would also like to thank the local community for their assistance with our enquiries and their continued support.
