Train services across Ayrshire and Inverclyde have been disrupted following a failure of the electricity supply between Kilwinning and Dalry earlier today.
ScotRail confirmed that no trains are currently running through the affected area and several routes have been revised or suspended as a result.
Services between Glasgow Central and Ayr are now starting and terminating at Johnstone, while trains between Ayr and Glasgow Central, and Glasgow to Largs, will begin and end at Kilwinning. Services between Glasgow Central and Ardrossan Harbour have been suspended.
Replacement buses have been sourced to help keep passengers moving, including services between Glasgow Central, Ardrossan Harbour, Dalry, and Kilwinning. Additional ticket acceptance has also been arranged with Stagecoach West and McGill’s on selected routes, covering areas such as Paisley, Johnstone, Irvine, Ayr, and Largs.
A Network Rail spokesperson said: “Our overhead line engineers are working on a repair plan, and we’ll share further information on timescales as soon as they’re available.”
Passengers are being advised to check the ScotRail website or app before travelling for the latest updates.
