The Johnstone community has once again shown its generosity and community spirit during this year’s Poppy Appeal.
Scottish Poppy Appeal, Local Area Coordinator Donna Louise Armstrong, said she is “very, very proud” to be part of such a fantastic community after a wave of heart-warming gestures from local businesses and residents.
Among the highlights so far:
- Punjabi Junction emptied their entire tip jar into the Poppy Can
- Subway’s collection tin was already heavy when the manager personally added £20 from his own wallet
- Timpson at Morrisons provided volunteers with tea, coffee, biscuits, and use of their facilities to heat lunches during the appeal
Donna also gave a special thanks to AK Vehicle Rental Ltd, who supplied the transport needed to deliver and collect poppies and donation cans across Johnstone and surrounding areas.
Posting on Johnstone Our Toon Facebook group, she said: “We could not have managed without them. I’m so proud to be the local area coordinator for Johnstone — we are such a fantastic community.”
