Renfrewshire Council has been named Public Sector Organisation of the Year at the 2025 Association of Project Management Awards.
The awards celebrate excellence in project management across the UK, recognising organisations that deliver meaningful change and real public value.
Judges praised Renfrewshire Council for its focus on delivering projects that genuinely serve local people, highlighting the team’s strong culture of continuous improvement and its commitment to building resilient communities for the future.
Councillor John Shaw, Convenor of Renfrewshire Council’s Finance, Resources and Customer Services Policy Board, said the award reflects the impact of the council’s project management work.
“This achievement highlights the great work of our project management team in partnership with services across the council. Together, they have delivered a wide range of initiatives—from major infrastructure projects to digital transformation and service improvements—that will benefit Renfrewshire residents and communities for years to come. It’s a fantastic example of how collaboration and innovation can make a real difference for our communities.”
Karen Mann, Strategic Change Manager, said the recognition marks the progress made over the past decade.
“The Council’s project management capability has grown significantly over the past 10 years. From a small team focused mainly on small-scale systems implementations, to a mature, high-performing project delivery service supporting a wide variety of projects across Renfrewshire, including building new schools and rolling out digital services to supporting refugee resettlement and improving social care.
“This award is recognition of that journey and the hard work and dedication of the team, and I couldn’t be prouder.”
The council’s win places it among the leading public sector organisations in the UK for project delivery, marking a milestone in a decade-long investment in improved systems, services and community outcomes.
